Free Day Friday!!!

I don't know about you, but I looooooooooove to get free stuff. When I get free things I pose like Molly from Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers. I remember once signing up to get freebies in the mail and was mortified when I received a free trial of super absorbent tampons as my first freebie. These freebies are MUCH better, I assure you! So, let's get to it!

Kicking off my first Free Day Friday is this classic 1989 song from the Rainman soundtrack, Iko Iko by the Belle Stars. This is an extended dance remix, so extend your butt from the chair and shake a tail feather or two!

Every wedding will not be complete until they've all done the Conga. Gloria Estefan made the late 80's a little more cheesy by concocting this effort which proved once and for all that in some cases, it WAS okay for your aunt to be holding onto your waist from behind. I should recommend that during the music solos it is your duty to break it down regardless of who's in your way. TAKE THEM OUT with your hips!

Some, or most of you should know by now that I have a thing for Olivia Newton-John. This "thing" has allowed me to get to the point where I purchase an Olivia album anytime I see one. Even if I already have it. You may call it OCD, I call it P-H-U-N. Right now, my collection is at around 160, give or take a few.

I don't seem to ever find any decent remixes of her stuff on the internet. Most seem to be the original song with a badly pasted beat that doesn't match up with the song, or they speed up her voice too high and she sounds like she's one helium hit away from passing out. I found this remix of A Little More Love on another blog. I don't remember who's it was, so sorry I can't give you a shout out.

You may know her as the whacked out judge on American Idol. I know her as a staple of my 80's musical youth. That's right folks, Paula Abdul. These days she's attempting a singing comeback of sorts and the singles she's released have proven that her voice just isn't what it used to be, for producers are giving her voice the Cher-bot effect and digitizing the hell out of it. I must say that when I saw her performance of I'm Just Here For The Music on American Idol, I was very impressed with it, even if she did pull a Britney Spears and lip sync it. For those who missed it, the song is here for you to download. Vicodin may or may not be needed while you listen to it.

She's Waiting!

What? You think I'd leave you sappy song lovebirds out of the picture? No way! The other night while I was uh, "sampling" music I decided to listen to Roxette's discography. I found myself skipping through more of the songs than listening to them. As most of you remember, Richard Gere wasn't getting his hooker love at the end of Pretty Woman. But once It Must Have Been Love kicked in and we had our montage of both he and Julia Roberts' characters sad and confused, wondering if he'd ever come rescue his princess. So, here ya go. Cry your eyes out and think about the things that could have been.
